Karen Carter’s Retirement Celebration – CTSI Open House

Join us in celebrating Karen Carter’s upcoming retirement!

The CTSI will host an open house on Thursday, March 26 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. for Clinical Research Professionals (CRP) to stop by, share their well wishes and celebrate Karen’s incredible career.

Sing of congratulations to Karen

Karen has dedicated over 40 years to clinical research, spanning Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University. As associate director of education for the CTSI, she was a driving force in strengthening and professionalizing the clinical research workforce. During the pandemic, Karen seamlessly transitioned the Clinical Research Professional Training Series to a virtual format and expanded it to include both foundational and advanced curricula, ensuring meaningful, accessible training for professionals at every career stage. She also mentored and supported countless clinical research professionals in achieving SOCRA certification, leaving a lasting imprint across Ohio State and Nationwide Children’s CRPs.

Karen’s commitment to excellence has elevated the field and those within it. Effective March 31, 2026, she will retire from the Institute. While we will deeply miss her leadership, wisdom and generosity of spirit, we are delighted that she will be spending more time with her husband of over forty years and their six grandchildren. Karen leaves behind an enduring legacy and she will be truly missed.

Cake and refreshments will be available - while supplies last.

Please register by Friday, March 20, so we can plan accordingly.

Julie Johnson, PharmD, is the Director and Principal Investigator at The Ohio State University Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
