The College of Medicine Research Information Technology (RIT) team proudly represented The Ohio State University at the annual international REDCapCon 2025, held this past September in Wisconsin. Under the exceptional leadership of Heather Lansky, Ohio State’s team showcased their technical excellence and earned prestigious recognition from the global REDCap community.
REDCapCon is the annual gathering of the international REDCap consortium that brings together REDCap administrators, developers and researchers to share innovations, best practices and collaborative strategies to advance REDCap, a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases widely used in research.
The Ohio State REDCap team was honored with two major awards. Jason Lones, REDCap Senior Administrator, received the REDCap Community’s Annual Superstar Award, recognizing his exceptional contributions and leadership. Jess Hale, also a REDCap Senior Administrator, was honored with the All Star Award, celebrating consistent excellence and impact within the REDCap ecosystem. These accolades highlight the team’s extraordinary contributions within the global REDCap community.
The Ohio State team presented its first REDCapCon plenary session, marking a significant milestone in the university’s engagement with the international conference. In addition to the plenary, the team delivered several refereed presentations, featuring Lindsay Breslin, Rachel Chase, Jess Hale, Kyle Kerslake and Jason Lones, each contributing insights and innovations that resonated across the international audience.
Ohio State’s team also cofounded three new working groups that were featured at this year’s conference: REDCap Business Models, Concept Alpha Testing and the Committee for REDCap-Administrator Emotional Well-being
These initiatives reflect the team’s commitment to advancing not only the technical capabilities of REDCap but also the sustainability and well-being of the professionals who support it.
Congratulations to the Ohio State REDCap team for setting a standard of excellence in research infrastructure. The Clinical and Translational Science Institute is proud to support and work with this exceptional team!
