Workforce Development Proposal Co-Led by Ohio State’s CTSI Approved as National CTSA Working Group

Titled “CTS Launchpad: National Training Criteria from Classroom to Career,” the proposal was developed through a collaborative partnership among workforce development leaders from The Ohio State University, New York University and Duke University. By bringing together expertise from multiple CTSA hubs, the team aims to explore national approaches to strengthening and standardizing pathways into clinical and translational science careers.

The Steering Committee approved the working group following review, noting its strong potential to address gaps in the clinical and translational science workforce pipeline. Reviewers highlighted the group's timely and impactful focus on workforce development, emphasis on an under-explored training pipeline and innovative approach to early workforce exposure, as well as its potential to strengthen pathways from education to careers.

The working group will provide a forum for CTSA institutions to share perspectives, identify common workforce needs and develop recommendations that can help prepare the next generation of clinical and translational science professionals. Through this national collaboration, participants will work together to examine training criteria and opportunities that support learners from the classroom through career entry.

The working group is expected to launch in fall 2026, with coordination support from CCOS and designated NCATS representatives.

More information about the CTSA working group proposal process is available on the CCOS website.
