Ethics Consultation

Ethics consultations are a free service offered internally to researchers at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Ethics consultations are optional and are distinct from and complementary to regulatory requirements (such as IRB review or FDA/NIH requirements).

Ethics consultations serve researchers by:

  • Helping researchers identify, assess and address ethical issues that may arise in their data science research.
  • Helping researchers navigate ethical concerns that may arise throughout the research process that may not be resolved through regulatory guidance (for example, research design, recruitment, enrollment and retention, dissemination of results, downstream effects of research, etc.)
  • Reviewing and contributing to ethics sections of manuscripts.
  • Providing referrals to ethics experts at Ohio State or other universities.

To schedule an ethics consultation, please email: CTSI-ethics@osumc.edu

There are also virtual research ethics consultation service office hours on Wednesday afternoons from 3-5 p.m.
